Diver dies off Fox Island

FOX ISLAND, Wash. -- A 36-year-old man has died in a diving accident off Fox Island on Tuesday.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office says it got a 911 call at 1:52 p.m. about an unresponsive diver south of the Navy Surface Warfare area on Fox Island.

The diver was out of the water and on a 30-foot commercial geoduck boat about 100 yards from shore.

The callers to 911 tried CPR on him. He was eventually taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma, where he was confirmed as deceased.
