SEATTLE – An elderly Capitol Hill man who turned himself in allegedly killed his wife with a shotgun then left her body in the bathroom for days while he lived in the home.

Court records say Isaac Lee Ealy, 89, turned himself in on June 7 after his wife’s son came by to see her at the home in the 200 block of 15th Avenue.

Officials say they went to the home and found her body before interviewing Ealy, who would then later admit to killing his 83-year-old wife of 20 years Alice Mae Scott.

An interview with Ealy allegedly revealed the couple had been fighting and he had planned to shoot her ahead of the murder. Ealy admitted, per court records, to getting a 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun and shooting her while she was in the couple’s restroom.

Those same court records claim Ealy admitted to leaving her body untouched for “two to three days” and even used the restroom while she was in there.

It was not until the day he turned himself in when her son showed up to see his mother that Ealy said he knew everyone would connect the dots once her body was found. Ealy claimed he also did not want her son to get in trouble.

Police say they searched his home and found the shotgun in the bedroom, along with at least eight other guns and multiple live rounds of ammunition in a nonfunctioning basement freezer.

The 89-year-old man is facing a mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison, which is effectively a life sentence for him considering his age.

The state asked for Ealy to be held on $2 million bail.
