Boise firefighters are donating money to local Girl Scouts that lost numerous boxes of cookies after a car crash.

A Boise fire spokeswoman says a man and woman were hit on Interstate-84 near the Broadway exit on March 5. The woman had to be extricated from the minivan.

The crash sent dozens of boxes of Girl Scout cookies on to the freeway.

A member of the Girls Scouts of Silver Sage Council says the department will donate enough money to buy back 144 boxes of cookies. Firefighters will present the girls with a check at the Girl Scouts office on Barnes Street tonight at 5:45 p.m.

Boise Fire says the husband and wife were hospitalized but are now on the road to recovery.
