OLYMPIA, Wash. — A man on his way to a wedding was burned when his sailboat caught fire in Budd inlet.
The boat burst into flames after an explosion. The man tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher, but the fire overcame him and he jumped into the Puget Sound.
He was rescued by an off-duty Olympia firefighter that was nearby when the fire started. The man sustained burns on his legs and was transported to a local hospital. His current condition is unknown.
Several agencies and the Department of Ecology responded to the fire.
