ELK PLAIN, Wash. - A bicyclist was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Thursday morning about 10 miles south of Elk Plain in Pierce County, and the Washington State Patrol is looking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash.

State troopers say it appears the bicyclist, a 66-year-old Eatonville woman, was hit sometime between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. on State Route 7 at 320th Street. The driver then left the scene.

A neighbor happened to notice the bicycle lying along the road hours later, then found the woman's body in the ditch. The neighbor called 911 and troopers responded, said Johnna Batiste of the State Patrol.

Black car parts were found at the scene. Batiste said the hit-and-run vehicle likely sustained front-end damage in the collision.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact the Washington State Patrol.
