Apple Turnover: Semi rolls over on Blewett Pass, dumping thousands of apples on highway
BLEWETT PASS, Wash. -- A semi truck hauling 80,000 pounds of apples overturned on US-97 at Blewett Pass, causing quite the mess, the State Patrol said.
The crash happened about three miles south of the summit, according to Trooper Brian Moore. The semi truck driver was trapped for a while in the wreckage but he has since been freed. Moore said the driver luckily only suffered minor injuries.
The pass was closed for the extensive cleanup and didn't reopen until just before 3 p.m.
There is no word yet what led up to the crash.
