9 arrested in rest area prostitution sting in Federal Way
Officers took nine women into custody during 'Operation Human Freight' on Tuesday night at the Federal Way rest area.
The Washington State Patrol and Federal Way Police targeted the rest area because it's a high-traffic area with criminal activity.
Nine women offered sex to undercover officers and were arrested in just four hours. WSP said the sting's goal is to rescue women and young girls from human trafficking, offer them resources and advocacy assistance.
Captain Ron Mead said, “We will continue our efforts in deterring the criminal behavior too frequently seen at the rest area so those using it for its intended purpose feel safe and secure.”
This is the third operation of this type in the state this year.
