74-year-old man suffers deadly fall while clearing trees off Port Angeles bluff
PORT ANGELES, Wash. -- A 74-year-old man died Monday evening when he fell off a 40-50-foot bluff behind his Port Angeles home.
Lyman Twing had been out cutting trees from near the bluff for much of the day, according to the Clallam County Sheriff's Office. He came in for dinner and told his wife he was getting tired and would just finish up a bit after then call it a night.
However, after a couple hours passed and no sign of her husband, his wife went out to check on him and couldn't find him. She called his cell numerous times with no answer.
She found his truck parked next to the bluff with a cable still attached and a ladder and chainsaw nearby. She called police to report him missing and to get some help finding him.
Deputies found a path to the beach at bottom of the bluff where they found Lyman's body.
