3 teens arrested for attacking off-duty police officer in Des Moines
DES MOINES, Wash. - Police arrested three teens accused of attacking an off-duty police officer at the Redondo Beach boat launch in Des Moines on Saturday.
Investigators took the two 18-year-olds and 16-year-old into custody on Tuesday.
Investigators said the officer was trying to get his boat out of the water and asked the group to move their vehicles out of the way so he could get his boat.
They said when the officer got his trailer and tried to get his boat out of the water, the group started threatening him and punched him in the head.
Police said one person in the group then grabbed a gun and pointed it at the officer.
The group then scattered, possibly because others were recording the assault on cell phone video, police said. Detectives are now reviewing video of the incident.
All three teens are facing assault charges.
The off-duty officer, who was not identified and is not part of the Des Moines Police Department, suffered minor injuries.
