2 killed in head-on crash, driver arrested in vehicular homicide investigation
ISSAQUAH, Wash. -- Two people died in a head-on crash involving an impaired driver along SR-18 Friday morning.
It happened around 5 a.m. when a pickup truck heading west near the Tiger Mountain Summit crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another car, according to Trooper Rick Johnson with the Washington State Patrol.
Two people in the car were killed. The driver of the pickup was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in serious condition, Johnson said.
Investigators believe the driver of the pickup truck, in his 30s, was impaired but haven't said whether it was drugs and/or alcohol. He is under arrest for investigation of vehicular homicide, troopers said.
SR-18 is blocked between Issaquah-Hobart Road and I-90 and will remain so for several hours for the crash investigation.
