2 JBLM Soldiers found dead in separate cases
JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. - The Army is investigating the deaths of two soldiers found dead in separate incidents, according to officials at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Police said 28-year-old Sgt. Lewis Clay of Milledgeville, Ga., hadn't been seen since July 29 when he left his home in Lacey. JBLM officials said his body was found off base on Thursday.
Investigators don't yet know how he died.
Clay enlisted in the Army in 2011 and served in the 8th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, since November 2017, as a Signal Support Systems Specialist.
Also on Thursday in a separate case, 25-year-old Sgt. Joseph Martin of Clarkston, Mich. was found dead at his quarters on base.
The circumstances of his death are still under investigation.
Martin enlisted in the Army in 2014, and has served in the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment since March 2017, as an infantrymen.
