LAKE STEVENS, Wash. -- Police are investigating after two people were injured when a motorboat slammed into their kayak on Lake Stevens Friday night.
The man and woman were kayaking several hundred feet from the shore at about 10 p.m. when they were hit by the boat, according to Battalion Chief Perry Putnam with the Lake Stevens Fire Department.
Both of the kayakers were thrown into the water upon impact and needed to be rescued by people in the motorboat.
The male kayaker was hit by the boat's propeller and his arm was seriously injured, according to Putnam. The woman was also hurt, but her injuries aren't as serious.
Both were taken ashore and driven to Providence Medical Center.
