SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department (SPD) is investigating a fatal crash on the 1st Avenue South Bridge Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m.
The Seattle Fire Department tweeted that a car went off the overpass from the 1st Avenue South Bridge and landed on South Michigan Street.
A Seattle traffic camera caught the moment the car went off the bridge and landed on the street below.
When fire crews arrived, they found a person dead inside the vehicle. On Wednesday, Washington State Patrol identified the person as 50-year-old James Ball from Seattle.
It's unclear what led up to the crash and SPD is now investigating.
