1 dead, 1 under arrest in 3-vehicle crash in Lynnwood
LYNNWOOD, Wash. -- A man was killed Sunday afternoon when the car he was driving was hit by another driver speeding down a Lynnwood street, police said.
Officers responded to a three-vehicle crash near the 19700 block of 76th Ave W. around 3:45 p.m.
Preliminary information indicates that the driver of a white sedan was speeding northbound on 76th Ave W. when he hit an unoccupied parked car and then slammed into the another car with one person inside, Lynnwood Police Commander Sean Doty said Sunday night in an emailed press release.
The speeding driver, a man in his 20s, then fled the scene on foot, Doty said. He was later taken into custody and is facing a vehicular homicide charge.
Firefighters had to extricate the other driver from his vehicle.
He was then taken to Harborview Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate the collision.
