Whether you prefer a sunny beach or some fun on the slopes, you have plenty of options right now for that late winter/early spring getaway.

Expedia crunched the data and found that for many popular ski and snowboarding destinations, including Whistler, Vail and Mammoth Lakes, the cheapest hotel rates are in February and March.

Expedia Communications Director Christie Hudson says you'll find the best deals if your schedule is flexible.

"Make sure you compare prices for different departure windows,” Hudson said. “Often, spring break travel can have an impact on airfare prices. So leaving a week or two earlier or a week later could save you a ton of money."

This advice also applies for Easter which is April first this year.

"If you're traveling in or around that weekend window, you're probably going to see some spiked prices,” she said.

Despite all the hype, there is no “best time” to buy your airline tickets for every destination. The cheapest days to fly domestically are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Internationally, the lowest fares are typically mid-week.
