1 injured overnight in Gig Harbor house fire

GIG HARBOR, Wash. - One person sustained minor burns as flames raced through a Gig Harbor home after midnight Tuesday, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to the blaze, in the 14600 block of 82nd Ave NW, at about 12:40 a.m. after receiving a report of flames and smoke coming from a home there, said Assistant Chief Guy Allen of the Key Peninsula Fire Department.

When crews arrived, flames were billowing from the roof of the house. As firefighters attacked the blaze, the roof partially collapsed.

One person escaped from the home and was taken to the hospital with minor burns.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
