Parents turn in their own 13-year-old son after police say he vandalized two Trump flags

PASCO, Wash. (KEPR) — The parents of a 13-year-old boy called police after they say they saw a picture of their son captured on security camera vandalizing Trump flags.

Pasco police posted the image of the boy on October 5. According to police, the vandal walked into a person's yard on the 5000 block of Arthur Lane in Pasco at 3:40 AM on Thursday.

Police say the suspect pulled two flags away from the home and tore them up before dropping them. Police say the suspect was trespassing and vandalizing. Police asked anyone with information to call them. The parents of the suspect called.

According to police, the parents informed them that their 13-year-old son was the boy depicted in the photos on Facebook. Police tell Action News that the boy, and his parents, are extremely remorseful for what happened and they are using this as a teaching moment for their son.

Police say the boy has apologized and plans to replace the flags soon.
