Oh, Brother(s)! Olympic Mountains put on quite the show

Photo: Mark Ashmun

Mt. Rainier usually gets all the attention with cool clouds and sun shadows, but Wednesday night, it was the Olympic Mountains' turn to show off.

Mark Ashmun had his camera rolling when the sun set behind the Olympic Mountains -- as it does every day. But this day the sun was just in the right spot, and a middle deck of clouds was just in the right spot, to where the sun cast a shadow off the Brothers' peaks, and the cloud layer was a willing canvas. Great shots, Mark!

And here is another view of the sunset -- time lapse video from the University of Washington Atmospheric Sciences cam. Watch the sunset "explode":

We're drying out this weekend so keep those cameras handy -- I'll bet both the sunrises and sunsets will be something to see!
