KOMO 1000 News Podcast

KOMO 1000 News Podcast

By Stan Orchard

SEATTLE - We are SO excited about this. For everyone who has an iPod, you can now download and play some of the more fascinating stories you hear on KOMO 1000 News. Download them and dump them to your iPod...automatically!

It's a new technology that seems to be sweeping the Net these days. It works like this: on your Mac or PC, you install a simple program that reads RSS feeds. If the feeds are set up properly, and ours certainly is, they will download audio and put it directly into iTunes. iTunes then synchs up with your iPod and boom. You have the story on your machine ready to listen.

You can easily set it up to check our Podcast feed as often as you like. So, for example if it checks just before you leave for work, you have the latest audio ready to take with you. If you work in a situation where playing a radio or watching a TV isn't a good idea then this is a nice way to stay in touch.

Now, if you don't have an iPod you can still get the latest news from KOMO. You can always read the news in a Web browser, as you are now, or tap into our RSS feed. Not sure what that is? No problem. Just click the link below and all will be made clear.

Also, more than one reader has pointed out that Podcasts can work with other MP3 players. I'll be honest, we haven't tried it with anything but an iPod and iTunes so we can't attest to how well it works. But the Google link below should lead you to more information.

And since this is SO new, we'd love to hear from anyone who may be using it. Please share your thoughts on RSS, Podcasting, etc. We always appreciate the feedback.
