Scarves up: Here are the details of the Sounders' march and rally
SEATTLE -- The Seattle Sounders and their fans can celebrate the team's dramatic MLS Cup victory with a march and rally on Tuesday.
Here are the details:
The March begins at 11 a.m. at Fourth Avenue and Pine Street near Westlake Park.
It will go north on Fourth Avenue, turn right on Cedar Street then go north on Fifth Avenue and West at Harrison. The march will go by the MoPOP to Seattle Center, with first parade marchers arriving at approximately 11:45 a.m.
The rally will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Fisher Lawn and fountain mall.
To prepare for the rally, Pine Street will be closed to traffic at 9 a.m. between Fifth Avenue and Third Avenue (fourth Avenue will remain open).
The Sounders won a team-first MLS Cup on Saturday night by defeating Toronto FC on penalty kicks after the two teams went scoreless in regulation and extra time.
Long-time fan Sara Bunn has been on an adrenaline high ever since.
"I feel like a proud soccer mom with them. I don’t have any kids yet, but I feel like with them… I’ve just kind of grown up with them as a player. I’ve progressed with them and followed their stories since they were just beginning with the Sounders," Bunn said.
Kelly Stevens hopes her voices hold up for the march and rally on Tuesday after getting back from Toronto on Sunday night
"Oh my God, I’m struggling today as it is," Stevens said. "You know, I’m very hoarse today and I know by the end of tomorrow… probably even by mid-morning tomorrow… I’m gonna be done."
