Seahawks to face San Francisco in NFC Championship game

SEATTLE - Are you ready for this? The Seahawks face the 49ers in next weekend's NFC Championship. San Francisco advanced to the conference title with a 23-10 win against Carolina.

Seattle and San Francisco split their regular season meetings. The Seahawks took down the 49ers 29-3 on September 15th in Seattle, and then San Francisco beat Seattle 19-17 on December 8th at Candlestick Park.

The hometeam won in both regular season games, so that means the edge naturally falls to the Seahawks. History might tell us something, too. The 49ers have only won in Seattle once in their last five tries. San Francisco's lone victory happened on December 24, 2011.

The battles between the Seahawks and 49ers have been extremely lopsided in Seattle recently. The Seahawks have outscored San Francisco 71-16 in the last two meetings at CenturyLink Field. Not to mention, the Seahawks have won six straight playoff games at home (that's the top mark in the NFL right now).

Seattle and San Francisco have the most heated rivalry in the NFL right now, so it's going to be an incredible atmosphere in the NFC Championship game. To add to the heat, this is the first ever playoff game between the two teams. The winner advances to Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2nd in New Jersey.

The NFC Championship between the Seahawks and 49ers is set for 3:30 p.m. at CenturyLink Field on Sunday. Tickets go on sale to the public on Monday at 10 a.m.
