Seahawks increase season ticket prices, add variable pricing

RENTON, Wash. - The average ticket price for a Seattle Seahawks football game will be increasing, and variable pricing will be in effect for the 2014 NFL season.

The Seattle Seahawks announced Friday that the average ticket price will increase by $12.

"Seventy-percent of season ticket holders will see an increase between $3 - $11 per ticket," said Seahawks president Peter McLoughlin. "In addition, approximately 10% of tickets are priced at or below the average lowest ticket price in the NFL."

Once the NFL schedule is finalized, variable ticket pricing will be introduced for the first time. Variable pricing is a strategy used to better reflect value and assumed demand of each game. Many factors influence variable pricing, such as the teams' opponent, or day of the week.

"Through variable pricing, ticket prices will better reflect the value and demand for each game once the schedule is announced next month," said McLoughlin.

Individual game tickets will continue to be sold at a higher price.

The Seahawks have sold out 95 consecutive games, including the playoffs, over the last two seasons.
