SEATTLE -- Home water produced mixed results for University of Washington rowers against international competition in the 32nd annual Windermere Cup crew races Saturday morning on Seattle's Montlake Cut.

With a large, vocal crowd supporting them, the Husky men's Varsity 8 narrowly defeated England's Oxford Brookes University. The crew from University of British Columbia finished third.

Washington blistered the 2000 meter course with a time of 5:35.782

Two UW women's shells were edged out by the Dutch National team in their featured Windermere Cup.

Next up for Washington rowers, the Pac-12 championships Sunday, May 13 near Sacramento.
