Husky men and women sweep Windermere Cup

It was opening day of the boating season and that means a Seattle tradition, the Windermere Cup on the Montlake Cut.

The event, one of the premier rowing events in the country, featured a full morning of races capped by the varsity eight men and women racing for the Cup.

The University of Washington men and woman went up against Cornell and Dartmouth, Ivy League schools also rich in tradition.

The Husky women beat the field by more than 10 seconds.

Then, the top-ranked Husky men did even better -- they crushed the Big Red and Big Green by 12-seconds.

It's the seventh straight Windermere Cup victory for the UW men and women.
