Huskies split Windermere Cup with Great Britain

SEATTLE -- In two hard fought races, the University of Washington split the Windermere Cup with Great Britain on Saturday.

The Washington women were neck-and-neck with the Brits most of the way, pulling away in the final 500-meters for their eighth straight Windermere Cup title. The Huskies finished the race through the Montlake Cut in 6:27.9; nearly a full four seconds ahead of Great Britain.

It's not often we can say this, but the Husky men weren't successful in the Windermere Cup. Washington fell to Great Britain for only its second loss since 2010. The Brits finished in 5:54.0; two seconds ahead of the Huskies. It's Washington's first loss in the Windermere Cup since 2006.
