Layoffs on Boeing's 777X line
EVERETT, Wash. -- Several dozen contract engineers at Boeing are out of jobs.
All were with the 777X program in Everett and all were contract employees.
A spokesman for the engineers union at Boeing, Bill Dugovich, says it's disappointing, considering the state gave the company a major tax break in 2013.
"That tax break was granted so that Boeing could maintain and grow the aerospace workforce, but that has not happened," he said.
The union's deal with Boeing mandates that contract engineers are let go before any direct employees.
While none in this round of layoffs were direct employees, Dugovich fears more job cuts could be coming in the next year.
