Duane Johnson pleaded guilty to first degree felony murder Wednesday for killing 30-year-old Tricia McCauley on Christmas Day.

Johnson was caught driving McCauley's vehicle around D.C. with McCauley’s body inside on Tuesday, Dec. 27 after a man who was walking his dog spotted her vehicle and called police, according to officials.

McCauley went missing on Christmas Day in Northwest D.C. She was a yoga teacher in D.C. and also an actor who appeared in productions at the Washington Stage Guild and other theaters, as well as movies.

Prosecutors in the case said McCauley was sexually assaulted, strangled and murdered.

According to official charging documents, Johnson, who has a history of mental illness, initially said he met McCauley sometime around Christmas Day and that she offered to give him a ride in her vehicle. Johnson claimed McCauley offered to have sex with him and then they did. After this, Johnson claimed McCauley became "emotional."

Johnson also claimed McCauley hung herself inside of her car while he stood outside the vehicle. Then Johnson said he picked up a prostitute and drove around with her in McCauley's vehicle while the body was in the back seat. Johnson claimed he left the body in the vehicle because he thought she may have been sleeping and could wake up.

Johnson also made several purchases with McCauley's credit cards, which he claimed she said he could have, along with the rest of her possessions.
