Yakima teacher acquitted of sex crime awarded $390,000

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - The East Valley School District has settled the case of a Yakima teacher who was accused of sexual misconduct with students.

The district agreed earlier this month to pay $390,000 in legal fees for Michele Taylor.

The gym teacher was accused in 2009 of sexual misconduct with two students, ages 15 and 16. She was acquitted of criminal charges in 2010 but fired by the district. She appealed the firing and the district decided to settle.

The Yakima Herald-Republic also reports Taylor had her license to teach reinstated last August.
