WSP: Both drivers DUI in 2-car crash that injured 6

OROVILLE, Wash. -- Six people were hurt, including a pedestrian who pushed another to safety from a careening car, in a two-car crash Friday afternoon that troopers say were both being driven by suspected drunk drivers.

A 44-year-old woman was driving south on US 97 about 5 miles south of Oroville when she attempted to turn left onto Ward Road in front of a northbound pickup being driven by a 27-year-old man.

The two cars collided, and as one of the cars careened toward two pedestrians standing on the street corner, one pedestrian managed to push the other out of the way to safety before he was struck by one of the cars, troopers said.

Both drivers, the pedestrian, and three passengers in the northbound car, including an infant, 4-year-old girl and a 19-year-old girl, were all taken to area hospitals but the extent of their injuries was not known.

Troopers said both drivers would be investigated for driving under the influence.
