Woman hit by SUV, critically injured on Rainier Avenue South
SEATTLE - A woman was struck by an SUV and critically injured late Wednesday in Seattle.
Police and medics responded to the scene, on southbound Rainier Avenue South near the Interstate 90 interchange, at about 11:10 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
A woman in her mid-30s was found at the scene with life-threatening injuries. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition.
A preliminary investigation found that a Toyota Highlander SUV was heading south on Rainier Avenue South approaching the on ramp to eastbound I-90. At the same time, the victim was attempting to walk across Rainier Avenue South and was struck by the SUV.
The driver of the Toyota was evaluated at the scene by officers, but showed no signs of impairment.
The investigation continues.
