Woman hit and killed while crossing street in Edmonds

EDMONDS, Wash. -- A 73-year-old woman was hit and killed Tuesday evening while crossing a street in Edmonds.

Sgt. Mark Marsh with the Edmonds Police Department said the woman was hit at about 7:30 p.m. at 4th and Bell in Downtown Edmonds.

An officer at the scene said the woman was crossing the street in a crosswalk when a woman driving an SUV turned onto Bell and hit her. The victim was pronounce dead at the scene.

The driver immediately stopped and is cooperating with police. It's unclear if the woman will be ticketed or arrested.
