Lanes reopen after water main break ices over roadway in Montlake
SEATTLE - A water main break near Seattle's Montlake district iced over streets Thursday on one of the coldest mornings of the season, creating very hazardous conditions and causing at least one crash until the ice could be removed.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, at 23rd Avenue East and Boyer Avenue East, and found vehicle's tires spinning as they hit the iced-over roadway. One car slid into a power pole.
One lane of the roadway was closed in the area for a time.
A Seattle transportation department crew came in and spread salt over the ice, which melted the ice and allowed all lanes to reopen by 8:30 a.m.
