Kasey Anderson pleaded guilty last summer in federal court in Tacoma. According to the U.S. attorney's office, Judge Ronald B. Leighton issued the sentence Thursday, telling the 34-year-old defendant he let down a lot of people.
Anderson was also ordered to repay nearly $595,000.
Between 2009 and 2011, Anderson told investors he needed money for his own album and tours, as well as a compilation album and concert series featuring celebrity musicians. The compilation album was a fiction, but Anderson created fake email accounts for prominent people in the music industry and sent emails from those accounts to further convince investors his project was legitimate.
