In adding 24 months to Nedley Norman Jr.'s minimum term, the board said recently that despite "exemplary behavior and work history" in prison, Norman continues to minimize his involvement.
The Kitsap Sun reports that 30-year-old Deputy Dennis Allred was shot multiple times during a Bremerton traffic stop just three minutes before his shift ended.
Norman was originally sentenced to death for aggravated murder. In 1981 the state's death penalty was struck down, which resulted in a life sentence without parole. A federal court changed his sentence in 1991 to make him eligible for parole.
He's held at the state Airway Heights Corrections Center near Spokane.
