Granite Falls Police Chief Dennis Taylor said two of his officers spotted a suspicious Subaru on Crooked Mile Road at roughly 8:30 p.m. When the driver saw the officers, he sped off, eventually getting onto Highway 92, Taylor said.
The officers began pursuing the Subaru and were soon joined by a Snohomish County sheriff's deputy.
During the chase, Taylor said the Subaru repeatedly rammed the deputy's car. After the last contact with the deputy, the suspect threw the Subaru in reverse and crashed into the chasing Granite Falls officers.
Despite the wreck, the Subaru was operational and the suspect continued driving for a time.
After crashing into a power pole, the Subaru driver got out of the car and took off on foot. Police have yet to find the man, but they did take his female passenger into custody. Investigators say the Subaru was stolen from Everett.
Police temporarily closed Highway 92 between 161st Ave. NE and 84th St. NE while they searched for the driver.
The deputy wasn't injured, but both Granite Falls officers were taken to Providence Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
