Trooper sent to hospital after Puyallup chase, crash

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- A Washington State Patrol trooper was taken to a hospital on Monday after his cruiser was hit by a driver and rolled.

The incident occurred on Seventh Avenue Southwest between Fourth Street Southwest and Fifth Street Southwest.

The State Patrol says a trooper tried to pull the driver over for cutting the gore point on state Route 512. The driver didn't stop and led the trooper on a pursuit through downtown Puyallup.

Another trooper joined in.

The driver who was being chased T-boned the cruiser of the trooper who joined the chase.

The trooper, who has 22 years of experience with the State Patrol, suffered broken ribs but his injuries arer non-life threatening injuries. And a 33-year-old man is in custody, the State Patrol said. The State Patrol says he has a revoked license.
