SEATTLE - Transportation officials are warning drivers to expect delays on Interstate 90 starting Friday night.

Officials say the delays should start around 11 p.m. All westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane and then rerouted to express lanes between Bellevue Way and Rainier Avenue South.

Crews will be striping for a new HOV lane, the Washington State Department of Transportation says. They're also doing work inside the Mount Baker and Mercer Island tunnels.

WSDOT officials say the project should be completed before 5 a.m. Monday.

Next month, Sound Transit will begin working on the I-90 express lanes to get them ready for future light rail.

Other events affecting traffic in Seattle this weekend include the University District Street Fair and the Beat the Bridge Run.
