Teen driver arrested for allegedly firing gun into air from car
SEATTLE -- Officers arrested a 19-year-old man who, for reasons unknown, fired multiple shots into the air while driving his car Sunday night in South Seattle, according to the Seattle Police Department.
According to police, officers patrolling near Rainier Avenue South and South Bayview Street around 11:30 p.m. heard four shots fired nearby and saw a car drive off fast.
Officers stopped the car, and the 19-year-old driver agreed to let them search it, according to police.
During the search, officers reportedly found a handgun in the backseat, and the driver was arrested. According to police, he later admitted to firing the gun, telling them he was shooting into the air.
The driver was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of felony gun charges.
An 18-year-old woman who was also in the car at the time was released.
