Teen charged with molesting child at Fife summer camp

FIFE, Wash. -- A 14-year-old boy has been charged with first degree child molestation stemming from an incident at a Fife summer day camp at Columbia Junior High school, officials said.

On Friday, a 9-year-old child complained of inappropriate conduct by the 14-year-old, who is a junior counselor in training. Fife police escorted the 14-year-old off campus and launched an investigation, a Fife city official said.

The teen had a hearing in juvenile court Wednesday and then was released to his parents until his next hearing on July 17.

Neither prosecutors nor police have given any details about the incident, citing the teen's status as a juvenile.

The camp was run by the City of Fife Parks and Recreation Department and was for children between 6 and 12 years old.
