EVERETT, Wash. - Part of Evergreen Way in Everett is shut down after a suspected DUI driver crashed into a power pole, according to police.

Witnesses said the driver was headed southbound in the 7200 block Evergreen Way around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, when he veered off the road.

The car hit a power pole, then flipped on it's side, trapping the driver inside. Investigators said the impact of the crash snapped the power pole and started a small fire.

Witnesses helped the driver out of the vehicle. Police arrested the 21-year-old man on suspicion of DUI.

No other cars were involved in the crash and no one was hurt. But, officers believe the same driver was involved in a separate hit and run crash around 5:50 p.m. near the intersection of Evergreen Way and SE Everett Mall Way. No one was hurt in that crash.

Evergreen Way remains closed in both directions from 75th Street SE to Madison Street while utility crews repair the damaged power pole.

Police said the road is expected to be closed until at least midnight.
