Suspected dealer shoots pot thief after being pistol-whipped in the head
LYNNWOOD, Wash. - A suspected pot dealer shot a 17-year-old man buying drugs from him after being pistol-whipped in the head multiple times.
The attempted drug deal occurred around 12:30 a.m. Friday at a house in the 5900 block of 177th Street Southwest, Sgt. Sean Doty with the Lynnwood Police Department said.
The suspected dealer, 19, was attempting to sell pot to two potential customers, Doty said. One of the customers was armed with a handgun and started hitting the suspected dealer in the head with it as they attempted to steal his drugs.
Police say the would-be customers' gun went off during the attack but did not hit anyone. After pistol-whipping the suspected dealer, the customers fled, shooting at the house as the dealer armed himself with a gun and fired back, hitting the 17-year-old.
The 17-year-old suspect was shot once and is is recovering at Harborview, Doty said. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The suspected dealer was treated at a local hospital for serious head wounds.
Detectives are investigating and applying for warrants to search the home.
