Suspect arrested in Rainier Beach shooting

SEATTLE -- A 20-year-old man suspected of shooting another man during a robbery gone wrong last week in Rainier Beach was arrested outside a residence in Renton Tuesday afternoon, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to police, the suspect tried to take the victim's iPhone last Tuesday near Renton Avenue South and South Ryan Street. A struggle ensued, and the suspect reportedly shot the victim in the knee before running off.

Detectives followed a number of leads to a residence in Renton this Tuesday and arrested the suspect as he was leaving in a car. According to police, a gun was seen under the passenger seat where the suspect was sitting.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of robbery, as well as an outstanding assault warrant.
