State Patrol: Suspected DUI driver picks fight with trooper on I-5
TACOMA, Wash. - A driver is in jail Monday after the State Patrol says he became unruly and tried to pick a fight with a state trooper overnight during a DUI stop on Interstate 5.
The incident unfolded at about 10:45 p.m. Sunday when a sheriff's deputy pulled the man over on I-5 near the Port of Tacoma and then called the Washington State Patrol for backup.
A trooper arrived and the driver became combative with the trooper. The trooper tried to use a Taser on the man, but it malfunctioned, said Trooper Brooke Bova of the State Patrol.
The driver eventually was arrested and taken into custody. No other information was available about him.
No troopers or officers were injured during the incident.
