Snoqualmie Pass reopens after hours-long closure

HYAK, Wash. -- I-90 at Snoqualmie Pass has reopened after heavy snow forced a several hour closure for avalanche control.

As much as 2 feet of new snow as fallen at the pass with several inches more yet to fall over the next few days.

The closure started at 7 a.m. and lasted until 2 p.m.

Crews were feverishly working on avalanche control but DOT spokesman Mike Westbay says it's took quite a bit of effort to remove all the snow.
