Shelton beating victim dies; suspect arrested

SHELTON, Wash. -- The 27-year-old man found beaten and unconscious in downtown Shelton Tuesday night has died of his injuries, and officers have arrested a suspect, according to the Shelton Police Department.

Shelton resident Talon Newman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center late Tuesday and was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon.

Police have arrested 20-year-old Shelton resident Eric Morrissey in connection with the beating. He is currently being held for investigation of assault, but homicide charges are expected to be filed Thursday.

According to police, Morrissey appears to have attacked Newman following an earlier argument or disturbance between the two.
