4 injured as log truck, 5 vehicles collide along US-2 near Monroe
MONROE, Wash. (KOMO) -- Four people were hospitalized from a crash involving a logging truck and five other vehicles along Highway 2 Monday morning.
The Snohomish County Sheriff's office says the crash occurred at Three Lakes Road between Monroe and Snohomish just before 11:30 a.m.
One of the injured had injuries serious enough to be airlifted to Harborview Medical Centerl, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman, but she didn't have any additional details on the extent of injuries.
According to the State Patrol the log truck was headed westbound on U.S. 2 when an SUV headed eastbound crossed the center line near 88th Street.
The driver of the log truck swerved into the eastbound lanes to avoid a head-on crash and lost control of its load, spilling the logs all over the road. Four other cars then struck the log truck and a pickup hit the debris in the road.
All lanes are blocked between 88th Street and SR-9 were blocked for more than seven hours white troopers investigated and cleared the scene. Both directions were reopened just after 6:30 p.m.
Troopers are still investigating why the SUV crossed the center line.
