Sequim man charged in deadly birthday party shooting

PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) - A Sequim man has been charged with second-degree murder with an aggravated circumstance after the fatal shooting of a Port Angeles man at a birthday party.

The Peninsula Daily News reports 27-year-old Nathaniel Darren Olson was charged Wednesday in Clallam County Superior Court in the death of 25-year-old Matthew R. Baker.

Baker was found dead of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Witnesses told deputies that Baker and Olson were alone in the living room at the time of the shooting. Officers found a gun in the home that wasn't registered to anyone at the party. A witness told deputies Olson had displayed the pistol earlier in the evening.
