Seattle woman robbed then burglarized in one night

SEATTLE -- There are bad nights, and then there's this: Hours after a woman had her purse stolen at a Capitol Hill gas station, she returned to her apartment to find it burglarized, according to the Seattle Police Station.

The victim's Friday to forget started shortly before 2 a.m. Aug. 2 when someone stole her purse at the Shell station in the 1500 block of Broadway, according to the police report for the incident.

The victim later told officers her purse contained her ID and keys, so she didn't feel safe going to her apartment and instead went to stay with a friend.

When the victim eventually did return to her apartment in the 500 block of 13th Avenue East around 11:30 a.m. she found the front door unlocked and her laptop and some cash missing from a counter, according to the police report for that incident.

According to the report, it appears whoever stole the victim's purse used her keys to burglarize her apartment shortly afterward.

The apartment manager was called in to replace the victim's locks.
