Seattle police: Man shot by security guard dies

SEATTLE -- The armed man reportedly shot by a security guard Tuesday night in the Central District has died, according to the Seattle Police Department.

It is still unclear if any charges will be filed against the security guard.

According to police, the security guard approached a group of men arguing in a parking lot at 23rd Avenue South and South Jackson Street when one of the men pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.

The security guard felt threatened and shot the man who was brandishing the gun, according to police. The injured man ran a short distance and collapsed, with a gunshot wound to the torso.

The rest of the men ran off before officers arrived.

The shot man was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he has since died from his injuries.

So far, the case has not been referred to the Prosecutor's Office. And, police are continuing to investigate.
