Seattle congresswoman will not attend State of the Union
SEATTLE -- Seattle's member of Congress will not attend President Trump's State of the Union address on Jan. 30, she announced Monday.
"Instead, we'll focus on the State of OUR Union, our opposition to his agenda, and we will lift up a progressive and inclusive vision of our country," U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal said on Twitter. She accused the president of "fueling the flames of divisiveness."
"I think it is absolutely unacceptable to see the racism and hatred coming out of the White House."
The Hill reports that Jayapal became the fifth Congressional Democrat to announced that she will boycott the State of the Union.
